Kesennuma, Miyagi

Kesennuma is a small port town located in northern Miyagi prefecture.

The brand name took the words "mast" and "hanp" and when used in the Japanese language describes the canvas sail and pole of a sailboat.

Kesennuma was affected tremendously by the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in 2011 but has slowly recovered in strength.

After experiencing such a devastating event, the city's motto was decided by public offering as, "To Live Together With The Ocean."

ATAGO HOME will donate 10% of the sales of MAST HANP products to the reconstruction efforts of the city of Kesennuma.
