Collection: Umezawa

Since 1925
Iga, Mie

Umezawa has been creating wooden products in Japan for almost 100 years.
They started as a silk-reeling business. The wooden products business started as a separate division of the silk-reeling company, which manufactured and repaired wooden tools used for silk-reeling.
When World War II began, the silk reeling business was closed by a national order, and wooden buttons for military use production began, which led the company to specialize in woodworking.
Demand for household wood products increased during the postwar reconstruction period.
They gradually shifted from manufacturing buttons to manufacturing household wood products such as tables and cutting boards.

There are techniques mechanized with the changing times and methods that are still traditional in handcrafts.
The craftsmanship is something that has never changed.
